This is gonna be a great middle of the road tailgate pad where it allows you to carry around a lot of bikes without taking up a lot of space or spending a lot either. Now this is still gonna be technically an entry level tailgate pad at its price point, but it does have some extra features to it that are worth taking a look at. And we're gonna focus though on our F-150 here. The main thing here is that with this being a full-sized tailgate pad, it does fit very well on the F-150 with how much it covers. more

Hi everyone, Aiden here with Etrailer. Today we're gonna be taking a look at the Kuat Huk half tailgate pad, and seeing how it fits on the back of our 2022 Ford Maverick. Now the Ford Maverick has a short bed, and that leaves you with not as many options for truck bed bike racks. If you've got a hitch, you can always put a hitch bike rack in, but truck bed bike racks are gonna be a little bit more cost effective and a little bit easier entry for some people that are just getting started with one or two bikes. Now the problem comes into play where the bed is short and a lot of times, you have to have the tailgate open in order to make those options work except for tailgate pads. So the Huk is going to be a really solid option for a tailgate pad. more

Inno Truck Bed Bike Racks Review - 2022 Ford Maverick- Video
Hi, everyone, Aidan here at etrailer. Today, we're gonna be taking a look at the Inno Velo Gripper Bike Rack and seeing how it fits on our 2022 Ford Maverick. It's gonna be a truck bed bike rack that clamps onto the side of your bed rails, allowing you to carry up to one bike up to 33 pounds. So on the Maverick, in theory, you could put one on either side, and that's gonna be true for any truck you put this on. You'll have to pick up another set of the clamps, because it only comes ready to go for one, but that is gonna be a limitation of this style, is that you are limited to the number of sides you have on your vehicle, which is two. So if you need to carry a lot of bikes, I would recommend something like a tailgate pad. more

Now, this version of the Huk is going to be considered the mid-size one, but it is going to cover the full length of our tailgate here on our Ranger. Now, the Kuat Huk is going to be a tailgate pad that can accommodate up to five bikes. If you're looking for something to carry around maybe not as many bikes, there is the half pad version, which only covers up maybe about 1/3 of your tailgate, but it can only accommodate up to two bikes. But this version able to accommodate up to five bikes is a really nice thing, especially when you compare it to some of our hitch-mounted bike racks. more

Kuat Truck Bed Bike Racks Review - 2011 Ford F-150- Video
Hi, everyone, Aidan here at etrailer. Today, we're gonna be taking a look at the Kuat Huk Tailgate Pad for Full-Size Trucks and seeing how this fits on our 2011 Ford F-150. Now, a tailgate pad is a great way to carry, on this one, up to six bikes with you in your truck. It's great, because it utilizes the space in your truck bed while still keeping the bikes organized, because sure, you can throw six bikes in the back of your F-150, but they're gonna be banging around together, all in a big pile, potentially damaging each other, and they're not very secure. And this is going to hold them upright, side by side with one another, and the only thing that's gonna end up overlapping is the tires over your forks, which some people might not be super fond of, in those cases, maybe I'd recommend a hitch-mounted rack that keeps your bikes more separated, but for this, it's a great effective way to get a lot of bikes with you quickly and relatively inexpensively. This is definitely a more premium tailgate pad, just know that there's a reason for that. more

So a tailgate pad is gonna be a great way to carry some bikes around with you whether you don't have a hitch or aren't wanting to use your hitch. It is a lot more cost effective than a typical hitch mounted bike rack and can hold five bikes on this version, so it's easy to get a lot of bikes to your destination. I'd say this one fits pretty well on the Maverick too. I was a little bit worried about the width of it but this is the one for the compact or midsize trucks. more

So a normal bike rack isn't going to be the best solution sticking in the hitch because you will need an adapter sleeve to size down. So having this, it's a great way to accommodate that. more

Now this is gonna be a great choice if you wanna get your bikes and maybe some friends bikes out to the trail, without having to worry about them jumping around and being damaged in the back of your tailgate. Now this is going to be for a full size truck. So this is gonna be 61 inches from both sides and it holds seven bikes. Now that's a lot of bikes and you're probably asking yourself how is it able to hold that and keep them from damaging both themselves and the bed of your truck Well, as you can see, it's made out of foam. It's made out of a really nice material and underneath we've got this nice plush padding that's going to protect your tailgate. more

So you guys can see too, it is going to be adjustable on this strap length. So these little cook and loop guys are able to be adjusted, so say we had too many on this one, I can go ahead, take that out, and shift it down to the further spot on my pad. more

Thule Truck Bed Bike Racks Review - 2019 Ford Ranger- Video
Colin: Hey everyone, it's Colin here at etrailer. Today we have in here a 2019 Ford Ranger, and right now we're test fitting the Thule GateMate Pro truck bed bike rack. Now this is a mat that's going to go over top of your tailgate, it's going to be a really nice solution for getting some bikes loaded into the bed of your pickup, and securing them so they don't shift around at all while you're traveling. Now, in my personal opinion of if I own a truck, the last thing I want to do is put a hitch bike rack on it when I have the bed to use for that reason. However, like I said, sometimes when you get a lot of bikes loaded, they could shift around a lot, that could cause them to fall to the side of your vehicle, maybe scratch up the top right here, or even shift and scratch on each other.So with this, you just get that front tire over top of it and then use the included hook and loop strap to get it secured. You're going to be able to get up to six bikes loaded on here, so that's going to be more than enough capacity to get a family's worth of bikes loaded. more

Whether you want to take your road bikes out for a spin, or if you want to take your mountain bikes to the top of the trail. This is also good for people who don't necessarily have bike racks, or necessarily want to purchase bike racks for their hitches.This features a telescoping arm, which enables it to fit a wide variety of truck bed widths. This does install easily, and comes with some security features as well. more

Speaker 1: Today in our 2018 Ford F250 Super Duty, we're going to be test fitting the SeaSucker Falcon Truck Bed Bike Rack for fork mounts, part number 298-BF1002. The SeaSucker Truck Bed Bike Rack is a fast and efficient way to carry up to one bike, by its forks, to either the top of the trail with your mountain bike, like you see here, or just heading out with your road bikes as well. This also works with bikes with disc brake adapters, also. Most people are going to be apprehensive about the fact that this uses a suction cup mount to stick to the back of the glass here. As you can see, shaking it back and forth, this is not going to go anywhere while you're traveling.It does grip it by your fork mounts with this 9-mm skewer at the front here. It just simply clamps into place, and you're good to go. more

Swagman Patrol Truck Bed Bike Rack Review - 2018 Ford F-250 Super Duty- Video
Speaker 1: Today on our 2018 Ford F250 Super Duty we're going to be test fitting the Swagman Patrol 2 Bike Rack for truck beds. Part number S64701.The Swagman Patrol 2 enables you to carry up to two bikes by their fork mounts in the rear of your truck. You can carry them by the fork mounts, or you can actually have these adapted for through axle bikes as well.To switch these out from the skewer mount that you see here to the through axle mounts, you would remove the bike completely, loosen up this screw, remove the inside and replace that through axle adaptor through at that point and then retighten that screw.The adapters that come with it can fit 15 mm through axles. It can also accept 20 mm through axles with an adapter. Part number S64715, which is sold separately.This uses a telescoping end here and this is going to help it fit varying truck bed widths with this knob to tighten down on the side of it, to keep it held in place. It does come with a series of locks that are key to life to help secure this to your truck bed once it's installed as well.It also has these padded ends here, so once you place it onto the bed rails, it's not gonna scratch or scuff up your truck once it's installed.It also has this latch on the inside here. more

It's great for carrying anything from your bikes to your surfboards or stand-up paddle boards for transporting them from one place to another.Now, what sets this apart from other bike racks, you can just throw this over the edge of your tailgate here, and this is for people who maybe don't have the hitch bike racks or don't want to necessarily drill into the bed of their truck for the fork-mount bike racks as well.This can carry up to five bikes or a couple stand-up paddle boards or surfboards. This has several points to tie down your gear, and also comes with hook-and-loop straps to secure your bikes. With the surfboard, we did use a strap, which is sold separately, and you can find it on etrailer.com.The tailgate pad is nice and thick, so it's not only gonna protect your tailgate from any scratches or abrasions, it's also gonna protect your gear that you're hauling to make sure it doesn't get any scratches on it as well. And even with everything installed, you still have plenty of space in the truck bed to store other gear.We also have this convenient flap at the front here, which has these hook-and-loop straps to hold it in place, so we have easy access to our hatch here. more

The Thule bed rider two allows you to carry up to two bikes in the bed of your trick by gripping them by the fork mounts up front here. This is an ideal bike rack for those who don't have bike racks or don't necessarily wanna go through the tailgate pad situation on the back here and possibly block off the rear camera. This essentially clamps down to the inside of the bed of your truck, has two fork mounts for different styles of bikes. It can carry the road bikes like you see here or the mountain bikes. It also works with bikes with disk brakes as well.This does come with three of the Thule lock cores. more

Speaker 1: Today on our 2018 Ford F250 Super Duty we're gonna be test fitting the Thule instigator truck bed single bike rack, part number TH501. Thule instigator allows you to carry one bike in the bed of your truck, and it's gonna carry bikes regardless of their suspension style or style of the bike itself, whether it be mountain bike like you see here or road bike, or kid's bike even. It's a ratcheting style bike rack that clamps around the tire and slides into place and holds it in as you drive. The hook itself does have a padding around it to help protect your bike once it's being installed, and also it does have an open spot on the bottom here that you can utilize the Thule lock core, which is sold separately, so you can secure your bike to the bike rack while you travel. This has a quick trigger release here to make loading and unloading very easy.With one instigator installed here, as you can see there's plenty of space to add another, as well as another bike. The Inno-Velo Gripper enables you to carry up to one bike in the bed of your truck. You can place it on either the passenger side or the driver's side, depending on which one you want, or you can buy an additional set and have up to two bikes in the bed of your truck.With it installed right now, you can see we still have plenty of space in the bed for other accessories. It does come with these pads for your bed rails, to make sure they don't get any damage on them once the clamps are tightened down, and it also has these D links here, which can be used with the cable lock to help secure your bike to your truck bed. These do have ratcheting straps that hold your bike into place, and also have adjustable arms here, back and forth, to accommodate different sized bikes. Let's go ahead and take a closer look and show off some of the features. Now normally this is how you would have the bike set up on the tailgate pad. You can fit at least one other bike on here, or you could also put say a surfboard or a stand-up paddle board. We have these points here on the top, which you can use as tie down points, which you can purchase those separately and secure your bike, or your paddle board or surfboard, to the actual tailgate pad itself. Let's go and take the bike off and set it aside. It just lifts up and off like that, very easy. Another feature about this, it has this flap here with hook and loop straps, which you can open up and have easier access to your tailgate latch like so. more

Thule Truck Bed Bike Racks Review - 2017 Ford F-250 Super Duty TH824- Video
Today, on our 2017 Ford F-250 Super Duty, we're going to be test-fitting the Thule GateMate tailgate pad and bike rack for full-size trucks, part number TH824. This measures about 62 inches wide. We already have a bike installed, as you can see here, but it also has other uses, such as if you want to put your surfboards or stand-up paddle boards, you could set them on here as well. It does have these areas here, which you can use for tie-down points to secure your bikes to it, and the pad does provide protection between your bike and your tailgate to make sure that your vehicle itself doesn't get scratched up. Let's go ahead and take the bike off. It simply lifts out. It can carry up to two bikes total, and this is excellent for trucks that have the built-in toolbox up at the front so you can't put the truck-bed bike racks that we also carry at etrailer.com. How it connects We have these three straps that go underneath the tailgate and connect here. You just cinch them down. more

Thule Truck Bed Bike Racks Review - 2016 Ford F-150- Video
Today in this 2016 Ford F-150, we're going to be test-fitting the Thule Bed Rider II bike rack for truck beds, part number TH822XTR. Now, how this works is it'll actually grab your bikes by the forks, and you do have space for additional fork mounts here, should you need them. To open them up, you simply pop this loose, and you can unscrew it from both sides to gain more space to lift up and out of the way. When you're ready to go, you simply push it back down, and these are lockable, so your bikes will be secure while you travel. The bike rack itself is lockable, but I'll show that later. Let's go ahead and take the bike out, and I'll lift it up and out of the way. Go ahead and close that back up. Now, the skewers themselves are also adjustable. Slide back and forth where you need them to by loosening these two screws here and just adjusting it as needed. Also, the other lock I was talking about is on this latch here, which is essentially how this hooks into your truck bed. You lift this up, which loosens it up, and then you spin the whole thing to either tighten it or loosen it to your specifications. Now, when you're ready to go, simply push it down, lock it up, and you're ready to travel. And there you have it for the Thule Bed Rider II bed bike rack for your truck bed, part number TH822XTR on our 2016 Ford F-150. First, we'll take it on our slalom course. more

Today, in our 2016 Ford F150, we've got out the Thule Instigator. We're going to test if it for you, and show you how it fits in the back of the vehicle, here. Now the Instigator is a very quick way of installing a bike rack in the bed of your truck, with no tools required, at all. At 17 1/2" wide, you should be able to get three across the back of your Ford pickup. Now to use it, what we're going to do is set the Instigator right here at the rear of the vehicle. You'll see the T-straps have already gone down into their location where we'll want those to be. It's going to be in the gap between the tailgate and the bed of the truck. more

Thule Truck Bed Bike Racks Review - 2012 Ford F-150- Video
Today on our 2012 Ford F-150, we've got out Thule Insta-Gater and we're going to test that in here and just kind of get you a look at how it works. The Insta-Gater's a bike rack designed to fit right in the channel or the gap that's going to run between the tailgate and the bed of the truck. Just position it just like so. We're going to allow both of the, see the T-straps there We're going to allow those to go down, so right in between the bed and the gate itself, and then as we close that up and that gap narrows, it's going to hold those in position for us, just like that. Now we'll need to get in the truck. You'll see our chrome levers there. more

Today on our 2011 Ford F150, we're doing a test fit of the Thule Gate Mate Tailgate Pad and Bike Rack. That part number is TH824. Now we already have it laid on top of our tailgate here. We are first going to show you how to secure that down and then we'll go over some things that you can actually put on our tailgate pad and then also how we secure that down as well. The first thing we'll do, since my arms aren't long enough to reach all the way down to the bed even if I lift up, we're going to open up our tailgate here. Now I will hold the tailgate pad with my hip and reach down, grab my strap, and straighten that out. Then I'll just feed it through underneath my tailgate and in between the tailgate and the truck bed here. more
